We are currently building our home and the estimated date of completion/closing date is the last week of July to 1st week of August 2012. Some will consider this an inauspicious month to move although you can still “safely” move into your new house during this period. Hi Stanley! We plan to move for good to our new home in manila either last wk of January 2013 or 1st wk of February 2013. However, we’ve already moved our furniture and most of our stuff last July 7 as we had to ship it by boat fr the province.
We’ve also slept in our new home already to supervise the still ongoing finishing works, although we still go back to the province every so often. We means, me and my husband and 1 househelp who take turns with our other househelp in manning the house. The only ones who have not tried sleeping in our still unfinished home are our 3 lhasa apso puppies. My question is, if we bring them to the new house with us and they be the ones to be there permanently with us still shuttling between the city and province, will this be counted as moving in already and thus destroy our target date for early next year? As for it not being good to move in the month of Aug, it’s got to with the Chinese Hungry Ghost Festival (see link). So unless you are staying in an Asian country or a practicing Taoist, I seriously doubt it will affect you in any way, so long as the date selected for the move is an auspicious one.

You can transfer anything from your beds, furniture, food stuff first into the new house. If you follow the old Chinese tradition then you will want to transfer the basic food stuffs like rice, salt, flour and oil into the kitchen first. The rituals you mentioned are not strictly part of the actual feng shui itself but are more based on religious and cultural beliefs. Although it doesn’t hurt to perform them.
My husband was born in the year of the Rat while I was born on the year of the Horse. We have a new house. Though we’ve already been sleeping i our new house we still haven’t formally moved in to it. We still shuttle between the new house in the city and our old house in the province. We means me and my husband and our 2 house help who take turns in taking charge of the new house, the 5 of us still have not slept together in this new house nor have we brought our dear 3 puppies to our new house yet.

27th Dec is even worst as it’s a Year breaker Day which is considered very inauspicious. If these are the only dates available to you, I suggest moving in on the 29th or after 11pm on the 28th.

Dec 18th is generally suitable for anyone wishing to move into a new house but it does not take into consideration the occupant’s birth dates. For people who are really serious in moving into their new home on the most auspicious day and time available to them, all the occupants’ birth dates and times have to be taken into consideration. Our fee is a relatively small investment of S$88 for this service.
Throwing of salt and rice at the four corners or walking over a burning charcoal stove is part of one’s cultural and religious beliefs and has nothing to do with the Chinese Date Selection itself. This procedure is completely optional. The first day when all the occupants stay together overnight as a family is considered to have “moved in”. Moving in of furniture and other household stuffs are not considered “moved in” in Chinese Date Selection.

You are mixing Christian rituals with Chinese Date Selection. They are separate and very different things. The important thing is the first day you moved into your new house, which you said is April 8th. What you do afterwards is pretty much up to you.

Of all the dates you provided? None are auspicious for moving into a new house but if you really have no other alternatives, then I suggest moving into the house on the 29th as it is the least inauspicious of the lot. Personally I advise you either advance your move in date or postpone it to a later one as moving into a new house on the wrong day at the wrong time can be, base on experience? Very problematic.
